Your Body’s Built-In Bliss Molecule

Have we been programmed to ‘chase’ happiness, when in fact, we have access to your body’s built-in bliss molecule? The simple truth is that your body literally produces its own source of bliss, but the number one reason we don’t feel it is because our stress is drowning it out. My name is Aela Lee, and I’m here to help you activate the dormant pharmacy that exists within your own biology.

The Truth About Chasing Happiness

We are often programmed to chase happiness, to seek peace, and to find joy as if these feelings are something “out there” to be discovered. This way of thinking is a suppression program designed to keep you in a perpetual loop of striving, always looking for the next thing to make you feel whole. But what if everything you were looking for was already inside you?

The truth is, your body naturally produces a substance called anandamide. It is a fatty acid neurotransmitter that binds to the same receptors as THC, the psychoactive compound in cannabis. This is why it’s famously known as the “bliss molecule.”

What Is Anandamide, Your Body’s Built-In Bliss Molecule?

Anandamide is a type of endocannabinoid, a molecule produced within the body that plays a crucial role in regulating mood, pleasure, and pain perception. Its name is derived from the Sanskrit word “ananda,” which literally means joy or bliss. It represents your body’s native state of peace and is the source code for homeostasis, or internal balance.

However, the bliss signal that anandamide produces is very subtle. It’s not a loud, overwhelming feeling. Instead, it’s a gentle hum of contentment and well-being that is always present in the background.

Why Can’t You Feel The Bliss?

So, if this molecule is always there, why don’t we feel it all the time? The answer is noise. The hustle program, the constant cortisol from stress, and the adrenaline from pressure create a loud, chaotic static frequency in our systems. This constant internal noise completely drowns out the subtle signal of anandamide.

It is like trying to hear a really beautiful, soft whisper in the middle of a rock concert. We are not lacking peace. We are just drowning in that noise.

Therefore, the work isn’t to find bliss. The work is to quiet the static so you can finally hear the frequency that you are already broadcasting.

The Anandamide Reset: A Simple Body Key

Here is a simple body key I like to call the Anandamide Reset. This exercise isn’t about trying to be happy. Instead, it is about signaling safety to your nervous system, which in turn allows the noise to subside.

  1. Find a comfortable position, either standing or sitting up straight.
  2. For just 60 seconds, allow your body to sway. Gently and rhythmically move back and forth or side to side.
  3. Allow your head and the rest of your body to move in whatever way feels good and natural.
  4. You can close your eyes while you do this to deepen the experience.

This gentle, non-striving somatic movement acts as a rhythmic signal to your brainstem, telling it that you are safe. This simple act is a key that quiets the cortisol noise and allows you to perceive the bliss frequency that is already there, waiting to be heard.
