That Energetic Hiccup Is Your Success Glitching

Have you ever considered that imposter syndrome and self-sabotage are actually ‘energetic hiccups’ from your solar plexus? That sudden hiccup that sometimes comes out of nowhere is an energetic spasm your body creates to help you expand your field. If you haven’t seen me yet, I’m Aela Lee. Let’s talk about the biology of your upper limit and discover how that energetic hiccup is your success glitching.

The Biology of an Upper Limit

A physical hiccup is an involuntary, sudden spasm of your diaphragm, your primary breathing muscle. Your brain sends a glitchy signal, causing the muscle to clench, and then you hiccup. This creates a powerful interrupt in your system. Interestingly, this provides a perfect blueprint for understanding the mechanics of self-sabotage. You probably never thought these two were linked, but the connection is surprisingly direct.

Your Solar Plexus as an Energetic Diaphragm

Your solar plexus, your third chakra, functions as your energetic diaphragm. It is your center of “I am” and personal power. When you have a big win or when you receive a new level of success, you are asking this energetic diaphragm to expand. In essence, you are asking it to take a bigger breath of reality than it has ever held before. This expansion can sometimes be met with resistance from your old programming.

When that sudden, jarring thought of imposter syndrome hits, such as “I can’t handle this,” or “This isn’t really me,” it’s not a sign of failure. In fact, it is the energetic spasm of your old, tight, small-self program as it’s being stretched by your new, expansive reality. You are simply expanding so fast that your old container is glitching. This is not a problem to be fixed, it is a symptom of your success.

A Body Key for Hiccup Integration

The next time you feel that energetic hiccup of imposter syndrome, or even if physical hiccups show up, you can use this simple technique to re-anchor that muscle. This body key allows you to consciously take control of your energetic diaphragm and support your expansion.

  1. Go ahead and place your hands on your solar plexus, which is located on your upper abdomen.
  2. Take a slow, deep breath in. As you exhale, make a long, sustained “Sssssss” sound. Push all of the air out and feel your core engage under your hands. You are consciously taking control.
  3. Now, swallow deeply a few times. This helps to reset the nerve connected to the diaphragm.
  4. Open your mouth and take another deep breath in. As you do, hold the intention and command, “I am allowing my expansion with ease. My container is safe. Let’s integrate this new level now.”
  5. Finally, do another long “Sssssss” sound on the exhale, just a little lower in tone, to fully anchor in the new state.
