Has anyone else realized their self-sabotage was actually a deep subconscious FEAR of success, not failure? I used to be the guy that would always screw things up right when I was about to hit the next level. It wasn’t a fear of failure but a deep, subconscious fear of success itself. It took a profound shift for me to understand that your next level is your new safety, and that I had to make it a safe place for every part of me to exist.

The Hidden Fear of Success
I was the world’s worst self-saboteur, if that’s even a word. I was genuinely terrified of what would happen if I actually got everything I wanted. This fear manifested as a series of internal questions that kept me stuck.
Would my friends still relate to me? It turns out I had to make new friends. Would I lose my identity if I wasn’t the poor kid from Missouri anymore? I used to joke about living in “misery,” Missouri. You get it. Suffering and struggle were so deeply baked into my identity that a part of my consciousness had created a system to deal with that reality.
Why Familiar Misery Feels Safe
My subconscious had a simple, protective belief system. It believed that my current life, even in a state of misery, was safe because it was familiar. The next level, however, was unknown and therefore perceived as dangerous. It was a strange comfort, but the logic was clear.
At least we know how to survive in our current state of misery.
Seriously, this was a protective mechanism in my consciousness trying to save me from the perceived threat of isolation and ego death. It saw my expansion as a threat to my sense of self, my sense of safety, and my tribal acceptance. The familiar struggle felt safer than the unknown success.
Making Your Next Level Your New Safety
The only way forward was to have a direct conversation with that part of myself. But if you’re anything like I was, you might not have a way to actually communicate with it. This was a real struggle for me until I discovered how to navigate my consciousness internally with the 13 chakra system using my reality creation process. Once I had those tools, I was able to connect deeply within myself.
I could finally reassure the part of me that was struggling to feel safe expanding. I was able to show it that we could expand and still remain safe, that we could evolve and still be loved. Ultimately, it’s about making your future self a place where every part of you can call home.
Declare Your New Reality
I am guessing that you’re all too familiar with that internal pull that knocks you back every time you’re about to level up. If so, let’s declare a new reality and anchor this into your energy together. Affirm this with me now.
My next level is my new safety.
Make that your choice. If you’re ready to embody that shift fully and want to learn the tools that helped me break these patterns, you can join one of my upcoming training events. You can learn more and see the schedule for the next Break Free From Self Sabotage training event here.
Or don’t. I’m just a guy from Missouri who grew up in the lowest-income area of the country with people who’d never traveled farther than the next town. But now I travel the world, I work online, I’ve scaled multiple six and seven-figure businesses, and I have clients on six continents. So, what do I know?
