Your Body Knows How to Heal. Just Listen.

Your body already knows how to heal, but you have likely been taught not to listen to it. So many of us try to heal by doing more… more techniques, more effort, and more fixing. I stopped trying to ‘fix’ my body and started listening to it instead, and it changed everything. Your system doesn’t heal through force. It heals through safety and awareness.

Healing Through Safety and Awareness

I am going to walk you through a powerful exercise we use in our work called a self-facilitated recalibration. Before we begin, it is important to remember that you are in control the entire time. Your system will only allow what it is ready for. If you are in a safe and quiet space, you can go ahead and close your eyes. If not, please save this for later when you can give it your full attention.

A Simple Guided Recalibration

  1. Settle Into Your Breath: First, bring your awareness to your breath. Your goal is not to control it, but simply to follow it. Take a deep breath in, and then take a slower breath out. As you continue this pattern, internally say “I allow” on the inhale and “I receive” on the exhale. Repeat this about five times at your own pace.
  2. Ask Your Body a Question: Now that you’ve settled into your breath, bring your awareness to your body. Instead of asking what is wrong, ask this powerful question, “What is my body communicating to me?” And then, just listen. There is no need for fixing or judging.
  3. Feel and Notice: Gently feel into your stomach, your chest, and also into your throat. Just notice how your body is already responding without any effort on your part.
  4. Drop Deeper Into Awareness: Now, go ahead and open your eyes briefly and then slowly close them again. As you do this, allow yourself to drop even deeper into awareness and into trust. You are not going under, you are going inward.
  5. Receive the Communication: In the next few moments, your system will give you something. It might be a sensation, a word, a feeling, or a simple knowing. This is your body communicating. Just let it arrive without questioning it. Simply allow.

The Shift. Your Body Knows How to Heal, Just Listen.

When you are ready, you can slowly come back. You can start by moving your fingers and your toes. Take another deep breath in and out. Go ahead and open your eyes.

That shift you just felt, that’s your body returning to regulation. Not because you fixed anything, but because you listened.

This simple act of listening is the foundation of true healing. It bypasses the mind’s desire to control and instead taps into the body’s innate wisdom.
