Why I Broke Up With The Lightworker Community

I still consider myself a lightworker, but I have to be honest about why I broke up with the Lightworker community. Has the modern ‘Lightworker’ movement become a trap of spiritual bypassing and victimhood? The core ideas of energy work and holding a high frequency resonate deeply with me, but a significant shift needs to happen within the community itself.

The Initial Allure of the Lightworker Path

At first, I was all in. I immersed myself in global meditations, collective circles, energy healing, astrological portal days, and manifesting collective timelines. I participated in energy activations at sacred sites, and it truly felt like I had found a portal to another dimension. It was a world where everyone believed in something bigger, dreamed of something greater, and spoke the language of energy with a vibration of truth and connection.

Why I Broke Up With The Lightworker Community’s Victim Trap

But then, I realized that for most people, the Lightworker identity was all just smoke and mirrors. A profound disconnect became apparent. Everyone was talking about timelines, but no one was actually creating their own path. Everyone was waiting for ascension, but no one was actually creating real-world change. People were focused on healing and saving humanity, yet they weren’t integrating their own shadow loops. They wanted to activate sacred sites without first activating their own embodiment.

At the root of it all was a deep victimhood masking itself as a savior complex. This victimhood was pervasive, touching on everything from trauma, money, and politics to the general pain and suffering of the world. I kept thinking, “Does no one see that we’re here to change the world, not escape it?” That’s the entire point. Unless we release the victimhood and step into empowerment as creators, absolutely nothing will change. It is up to us.

I watched people theorize about life rather than actually live life, like a business professor that’s never actually started a business. I saw enough of that in college. So why is that here too?

This community professes to be full of light-bringers, truth illuminators, and guides for humanity’s ascension, but I saw very few people taking the actual steps to build those visions. There was so much talk and so little real movement.

Spiritual Bypassing and Clever Excuses

I watched people label their emotional wallowing as “self-expression” and “evolution.” I watched them obsess over the identity of being a lightworker rather than actually illuminating their own shadow with light. People were chasing ascension rather than embodying their own power. In some ways, it felt worse than organized religion; at least they build something. Many lightworkers won’t stay focused long enough to see anything through.

When it came time to show up and build their great visions, the excuses would appear. They suddenly had “more healing to do,” or “the energy is too intense.” So, they would stay in bed for a week, telling themselves they were getting activated with downloads or having ascension symptoms. But the only thing getting activated was their avoidance and self-sabotage patterns. It’s a clever and often subconscious excuse to avoid accountability.

I watched the community enable and cheer on these behaviors, wearing their victim loops like badges of honor. And the worst part was the coddling, disguised as spiritual concepts.

  • Coddling disguised as divine flow.
  • Procrastination disguised as manifestation.
  • Self-loathing disguised as healing.
  • Judgment disguised as liberating people.
  • Apathy disguised as love and light.
  • Escapism disguised as ascension.

The True Nature of Light Work is Creation

But you can’t escape nature. Nature is light in materialized form; it’s the literal “light works.” And while nature is connected, it is not soft. It is rigorous, unforgiving, and direct. I realized the most illuminated thing I can do is create, build, and expand. The most aligned thing I can do is show the fuck up, even when I don’t feel like it. At the core of our true nature, we are creators.

Yet, many lightworkers will do anything to avoid actually creating. They’ll invent spiritual battles to fight so they can continue their victim loops with a savior identity. That’s not what the world needs. The world needs creators who are committed to changing themselves from within. The world needs builders who see what needs to change and then go build whatever is needed to change it.

The people who change the world the most are not the most spiritual or enlightened. They’re the most consistent. They’re the most committed and devoted to their mission. They’re the most tolerant of extreme discomfort.

Mostly, they’re entrepreneurs. They build businesses with purpose. They craft empires out of divinely inspired ideas, and they don’t wait for alignment. They create alignment through action.

Reframing the Purpose of Spiritual Practice

Don’t get me wrong, I still love the roots of the Lightworker ideology. I’ll never knock a good global meditation, timeline manifestation, or a solid breathwork journey. I teach people how to use these tools to level up all the time. I’ve hosted global activations with thousands and built a community of over 3,000 lightworkers across six continents.

But we have to stop pretending that’s the only work that matters. The light work practices are for the expansion of self. They exist to help you integrate and embody your divine power, to align you for action. They build the bridge between your inner world and the outer one, so you can bring that divine power into tangible reality.

The Lightworker paradigm taught me how to open my heart and see a bigger picture. But honestly, I’ve had to step back to learn how to actually impact the world. That’s what my reality creation process is all about; it’s a process for embodying the energy of radical creation. If you’re still here, you’ve probably walked a similar path. It’s time to build.

If you want my help breaking out of these loops and embodying your creative power, I have put something together for you.
