Unlock Abundance With Your Breath

Have you ever considered how you can unlock abundance with your breath? I realized my shallow breathing was a sign that I’m uncomfortable with receiving abundance and goodness. This insight is profound because it highlights a direct, physical link between our inner state and our capacity to accept the good things life offers. Has anyone else experienced this powerful connection?

The Energetic Duality of Your Breath

In many ancient wisdom traditions, the lungs are known as the organ that holds grief and sadness. When we experience loss, it can feel like a physical weight on our chest, making it hard to take a full, deep breath. This connection is not just metaphorical; it’s a physiological reality that demonstrates how our emotions are stored within the body.

But the breath is a duality. It represents a constant cycle of giving and receiving, a fundamental rhythm of life itself. This cycle is a profound communication from the body about our relationship with the world around us.

The exhale is about letting go, releasing, and giving. And the inhale is about taking in, accepting and receiving.

Why High Achievers Struggle to Receive

So many of us, especially high achievers and leaders, are masters of the exhale. We excel at pushing energy out into this world, at giving our all, and at constantly producing. However, we are often terrible at the inhale. We struggle to receive compliments, to accept help, or to truly take a day off without feeling unproductive or guilty.

Shallow breathing is one of the body’s first and most subtle signals that something is out of alignment. It is a telepathic and energetic awareness that something is out of balance. Your body is communicating a deep-seated pattern of being uncomfortable with receiving.

Think about it. How can you expect to take in the full, deep, nourishing abundance that exists on all levels if you are physically unable to take a full, deep breath? Your life is trying to give to you, but your body’s patterns might be rejecting it.

Your capacity to receive in life is directly mirrored by your capacity to inhale.

How to Unlock Abundance With Your Breath: A Guided Practice

You can retrain your nervous system to feel safe and worthy of receiving. This simple practice helps create a new pattern, signaling to your body and mind that it’s okay to accept goodness. Follow these steps to begin.

  1. Find Your Position: You can sit or stand, but make sure you have a straight spine to allow for full lung capacity.
  2. The Complete Exhale: Exhale all of the air out of your lungs completely. Push it all out until you feel you can’t go any more. This creates space for the new.
  3. The Slow Inhale: Now, inhale slowly through your nose for a count of three. Don’t just try to fill your chest. Instead, imagine your breath is a gift you are graciously accepting.
  4. Receive in Stages: First, receive that inhale into your stomach. Then, allow it to fill your chest, and finally, feel it expanding outward from your center.
  5. Hold and Nourish: When you get to the top of your breath, hold it for six counts. Allow your body to be fully nourished by what it has taken in. Feel the energy and life force within that pause.
  6. Release with Ease: Finally, go ahead and exhale for nine counts, letting it all go with ease. Release any tension or resistance.

Practice this cycle for a few minutes, over and over again. When you do this, you are not just breathing. You are literally teaching every single cell in your body that it is safe to breathe and, by extension, to receive. This is a foundational step in re-patterning your energy system for greater well-being and abundance.
