I recently tried this 60 second technique to ‘stop interfering’ with my problems instead of ‘fixing’ them, and the internal shift was immediate and profound. A Guided 60-Second Practice to Stop Interfering

Let’s begin this simple yet powerful exercise together. First, bring something to your attention in your life that feels unresolved. This could be anything you’ve been trying to figure out, fix, or change. Just hold that specific situation or feeling in your awareness for a moment. This is the starting point of our brief practice. The goal isn’t to solve the problem right now, but simply to observe it with gentle awareness.

Now, as you hold this unresolved issue in your mind, notice what your system does. Pay close attention to your body’s immediate reaction. Do you feel any pressure building up? Is there any tightening in your shoulders, your jaw, or your stomach? Observe any sense of needing to move it, understand it, or get somewhere with it. Simply observe that internal reaction without judgment.

Steps to Release the Pressure

  1. Hold the unresolved issue in your awareness.
  2. Observe your body’s response, noticing any pressure or tightening.
  3. Without changing the situation itself, consciously drop the need for it to be different.
  4. Remove the pressure to fix it. Note that this is not about forcing acceptance.
  5. Take a deep breath in and a long breath out.

What Happens When You Move from Interference to Neutrality

As you release that breath, just notice what happens in your body. Can you feel how something in your body just relaxes, even if it’s only a small amount? Do you notice how something inside you becomes quieter? This subtle change is incredibly significant. Take a moment to feel into it and simply allow it to be. This sensation is the shift. That is the entire difference we are aiming for.

That’s what happens when you move out of interference and into neutrality. Nothing changed externally yet, but your system did.

From that new place of internal quiet and neutrality, things naturally start to move differently. Change begins to happen not because you pushed for it, but because you are no longer holding the problem rigidly in place with your tension and need to control it. You have created space for a new outcome to emerge.

This simple exercise reveals the very foundation of this transformative work. It’s not about doing more or trying harder to figure things out from a state of stress. Instead, it is about learning how to stop interfering with what is already trying to shift within you and in your life. The real power comes from letting go, not from forcing a solution. Your inner state creates your outer reality, so this internal shift is the first and most crucial step.
