The Pain Between Your Shoulder Blades

That constant ache could be the physical manifestation of an energetic door you’ve slammed shut because you stopped trusting others and the universe to support you.

The Energetic Root of the Pain Between Your Shoulder Blades

Biologically, the muscles in this area are your Rhomboids, which are responsible for stabilizing your shoulder blades. Energetically, however, this area represents something far more significant. It is the back of your heart chakra. While the front of your heart is where you give love and energy out into the world, the back of your heart is where you receive love, help, and support.

Hyper-Independence and The Armored Heart

When you operate from a subconscious program that says, “I have to do it all alone,” or “If I want it done right, I’ll just do it myself,” you begin to physically armor this energetic center. You tense the muscles and lock the door to receiving, creating a physical barrier. That chronic knot you feel is a direct, physical manifestation of hyper-independence.

This is a deeply ingrained self-sabotage pattern. Ultimately, it blocks help, blocks money, and blocks love from flowing into your life because your body is literally braced against receiving them. You cannot welcome abundance when your entire physical and energetic posture is one of resistance and self-reliance.

The ‘Wing Release’ Exercise to Re-Open the Door

To begin healing this pattern, you must consciously signal to your muscles and to the universe that it is now safe to open this door. You can do this with a simple but powerful body-based technique I call the “Wing Release.” It is designed to physically and energetically unlock this armored space.

How to Perform the Wing Release

  1. Squeeze your shoulder blades together backwards as hard as you can and hold the contraction.
  2. While holding, take a deep inhale, breathing directly into the space in your upper back.
  3. Now, exhale out loud with a sound and aggressively drop your shoulders, releasing all the tension.
  4. As you release, visualize a heavy door on your back swinging wide open, letting in light and energy.
  5. Finally, affirm to yourself, either out loud or internally, “It is safe to be supported. I choose support.
