Beyond the Physical Symptoms of Knee Pain
Most people think knee issues are just physical, and yes, there can absolutely be structural things going on that need attention. But the body also holds energetic patterns, and this is a crucial piece of the puzzle that is often overlooked. The knees, from an energetic standpoint, are all about movement and direction in our lives. They sit right at the base of the root chakra, physically and symbolically connecting where you are right now with where you are going.
When there’s tension, pain, or instability in the knees, it’s often connected to something deeper.
The Energetic Reason Your Knees Hurt
From this energetic perspective, issues with your knees can be directly related to an internal resistance to moving forward. This might manifest as fear around change or anxiety about the next step you need to take. You might feel stuck in a limbo between where you are and where you truly want to be. This feeling of being trapped or hesitant can create an energetic block that settles in the knees.
Interestingly, sometimes it’s not that you don’t know what you want to do or which direction to go. The real issue is that your nervous system doesn’t feel safe to move forward or to change direction. So, instead of flowing into the next phase, the body instinctively holds on, creating a state of tension. Over time, that constant holding becomes chronic tension, and eventually, that tension manifests as physical pain in the knees.
This is so important to understand. This doesn’t mean the pain is “just in your head.” It means your body is having a very real, tangible response to a signal of unsafety within your system. Your pain is valid, and itโs carrying a message.
The Shift from Forcing to Allowing
Once we see this connection, the entire approach to healing can change. The question is no longer, “How do I force myself to push forward despite the pain?” Instead, the inquiry becomes much gentler and more profound.
What would it take for my system to feel safe to move?
When that foundational sense of safety is established in your nervous system, movement happens naturally. Itโs not forced. Itโs not pushed. Instead, it is allowed to happen with ease and flow. The body lets go of the holding pattern because the perceived threat has been resolved, freeing up energy and alleviating the physical strain on your knees.
