We need to start with a core principle that most people get wrong. Money is simply a container for the value to be exchanged. It is not the value itself. Think about it this way. When you go to the grocery store and buy a cart full of groceries, you don’t pay for how many hours you spent walking around the store. That would be absurd, right?
Instead, you pay for the benefit you take home. If you take a lot of benefit home in that cart, you pay a big bill. If you take a small amount of benefit home, you pay a small bill. This is true regardless of how much time you spent shopping.
The Biggest Lie About Time and Money That Traps Businesses
The illusion that traps so many of us is attaching value to time. When we do this in our businesses, the entire model for exchange implodes on itself. It simply doesn’t work because that’s not what money is for. Trading time for money is an absolute death trap, one created by the old 3D institutions of this world. So, let’s break this trap right now.
What is the True Value of Your Work?
I have two critical questions for you to consider about the work you do.
- Is the work that you do powerful?
- Does it change people’s lives?
I’m guessing the answer to both is a resounding yes. Now for the harder question. How valuable is the change your work makes in people’s lives? If you find that hard to answer, that’s a good sign. You can’t put a price tag on it.
The impact you have is invaluable. It’s priceless.
The Mindset Shift: Exchange Transformation, Not Hours
Let’s reframe this. Right now, you might be exchanging the most finite, valuable resource you have, your time, for money. You are essentially selling to people who believe your time is what they’re paying for. But it’s not. They are paying for the results you help them get. Anyone who has mastered the vibration of money understands that we do not exchange our time for money.
The value you provide your clients might be delivered in one session or it might take five sessions. It could happen over three months or in just two weeks. The duration doesn’t matter. The impact and the change they make in their life… that is what they are truly paying for.
If you start having your clients pay for the transformation, the shift, and the benefit versus the number of sessions and hours you spend with them, two amazing things will happen. First, they will get more results from every session because the outcome is no longer linked to time. Second, they will pay you more because money is finally linked to the actual, real, priceless value you provide.
