Have you ever found yourself in a love-hate relationship with chaos? For years, I realized my ‘addiction to chaos’ was a trauma response because, deep down, peace felt dangerous. This constant cycle of building and destroying left me wondering if I could ever reprogram my nervous system to find safety in calm. The journey wasn’t easy, but it taught me a fundamental truth: peace is my power, and it can be yours, too.

From Success to Self-Sabotage
I have to be honest, for years I was caught in this destructive loop. For example, I created massive success in my tech career and then, almost as if on autopilot, I would unconsciously burn it all to the ground. It was a baffling pattern. I truly became the king of self-sabotage.
Whenever I managed to get my life to a place of peace and stability, an internal alarm would go off. Immediately, I would make tragically stupid choices or take on an overwhelming project just to feel that familiar rush of adrenaline. On the surface, I told myself that I just thrived under pressure, but deep down, I knew something else was driving my actions.
Why Chaos Felt Like Home (And Peace Felt Dangerous)
The truth is, it was really just a trauma response. My nervous system had been programmed from a young age to believe that “safe” and “calm” was a lie. In my world, tranquility was always just the quiet before the storm, and I was perpetually waiting for the other shoe to drop. Consequently, peace felt incredibly dangerous, while chaos, with all its unpredictability, felt like home.
My subconscious was so brilliant that it learned to create chaos itself just to feel a sense of control in an environment it perceived as inherently unstable. While this programming also made me a world-class problem solver, it came at a tremendous cost. It cost me my peace and my freedom.
As a wise friend of mine once reminded me, if it costs you your peace, it’s costing too much.
Learning That Peace Is My Power
I came to understand that this wasn’t about hitting bigger goals to finally feel free. The solution was much deeper. It was about teaching my nervous system, one chakra at a time, cell by cell, and moment by moment, that peace is safe. It was about internalizing the belief that I can be in a state of calmness and still be worthy, still be productive, and, most importantly, still be alive.
If this experience sounds familiar, I invite you to anchor in a new reality. You can start by declaring in the comments, “peace is my power.” For me, the key that unlocked this new way of being was working through the 13 chakra system, which made all the difference in breaking these old cycles. If you’re ready to learn how you can do it too, I’ll be unpacking the whole process in my class. You can find more details at the Cycle Breaker Training. I hope to see you there on the flip side.
