Is Your Liver Causing Your Burnout?

Have you ever wondered if your chronic exhaustion is more than just a busy schedule? For years, we’ve blamed burnout on a lack of sleep or too much work, but what if there’s a deeper cause? The truth may surprise you, as the question we should be asking is, is your liver causing your burnout? It’s possible that ‘burnout’ is actually a symptom of an energetically clogged liver suffering from unprocessed emotions.

Why Your Liver is Causing Your Burnout

From a biological sense, your liver is a master filter, responsible for processing everything you consume. However, from an energetic and chemical perspective, it also processes the byproducts of your emotions. When you find yourself in a state of chronic stress, your body is constantly flooded with cortisol and adrenaline. Consequently, your liver has to work overtime to break down and filter out these powerful stress chemicals.

For years, we’ve blamed burnout on the lack of sleep or too much work, but we’ve been ignoring one of the most unsung heroes of our internal ecosystem, the liver.

Think of your liver as your business’s emotional and chemical filtration plant. If you’re constantly feeding it a diet of stress, frustration, and resentment, the filter inevitably gets clogged. The result? You feel sluggish, irritable, foggy, and stuck. That persistent feeling of burnout is often the direct sensation of an energetically overloaded system.

The Impact of Unprocessed Emotions

When we fail to process our anger or frustration in the moment, our body must find a place to put that energy. Our liver is then forced to store that “hot” energy, which leads to a state of internal stagnation that no amount of coffee can ever fix. Tending to your liver’s energetic health is not just for occasional detoxes. Instead, it is a daily practice for maintaining clarity, vitality, and resilience as a leader.

A Gentle Practice to Release Liver Stagnation

Here is a gentle yet powerful practice that helps to “wring out” and release stagnant energy from your liver. Follow these simple steps to begin clearing your system and restoring your vitality.

  1. Sit comfortably on the floor or on a chair. Place your left hand on your right knee to start.
  2. Now, place your right hand either on the floor behind you (if you’re on the floor) or on the chair for support.
  3. Inhale deeply to elongate the spine, creating space between your vertebrae.
  4. As you exhale, gently twist your torso to the right. Hold this gentle twist.
  5. While holding the position, take three deep, intentional breaths. With each exhale, imagine you are gently wringing out your liver, releasing old, stagnant energy just like you would a sponge.
  6. Slowly and mindfully return to the center. Repeat the entire sequence on the other side.

Remember that a clear liver leads to a clear mind. By incorporating this small practice into your routine, you can begin to address the energetic root of your burnout and reclaim your natural state of clarity and resilience. I hope this helps you on your journey.
