Are you wondering why you keep hitting an upper limit in your life? It has little to do with a simple fear of success or failure, as those are often surface-level symptoms. The real answer may lie deeper. Is your nervous system programmed to see success as a threat? This post explores why you might be hitting an ‘upper limit’ and, more importantly, how you can begin the journey of breaking your subconscious upper limit to move past it.

Why Success Can Feel Like a Threat
With many of the conscious entrepreneurs that I’ve worked with, we’ve discovered a deeper layer in the nervous system that has been programmed to associate a certain level of success as greater than where you currently are. This creates a subconscious implication that you’re not enough right now.
Consequently, this makes the very idea of that next level of success a threat. It feels like something that invalidates your current experience and sense of self, even if you’re already quite successful by most standards. Your system is trying to protect who you are right now from being deemed “not good enough.”
Faulty Equations Running in Your Subconscious
This feeling gets combined with faulty equations that your subconscious might already be running. These are rules it learned from past experiences, and they might sound something like this.
- The more money I make, the more responsibility I have, and that feels overwhelming.
- The more visible I am, the more I’ll be judged, and that’s not safe.
- I haven’t worked hard enough for that level of success yet, so I don’t deserve it.
The Key to Breaking Your Subconscious Upper Limit
Your upper limit is simply the boundary where that old threat level equation gets activated. When you approach it, your subconscious system doesn’t register “success.” Instead, it perceives danger. The internal warning lights start flashing, and it floods your decision-making process with logical, but ultimately self-sabotaging, moves that pull you back to the familiar, safe zone.
The key isn’t to try to blast through the limit with willpower. It’s to identify the system in your consciousness that’s off track and use your source code to rewrite it.
True change is about teaching your nervous system that your next level of expansion is actually your new level of safety and comfort. It’s about expanding your comfort zone, not just leaving it. This process involves showing your current self that just because you’re moving to a new level doesn’t mean that your current level was not good enough. It was a necessary step on your journey.
If you’re ready to break free of old patterns like this, you can learn how to do a source code activation. For those interested in this work, I share the exact steps I use with my clients in a live training event focused on using the 13 chakra system. You can check the schedule for the next training to see how you can apply these tools for yourself.
