Awakening is not the same as embodiment

Here is the hard truth about kundalini awakenings that many facilitators won’t tell you; awakening is not the same as embodiment. It’s a critical distinction to make. Discovering a new potential within yourself is a powerful first step, but it is entirely different from mastering that potential and integrating it into your daily life.

The Glimpse vs. The Journey

Awakening is not the same as embodiment. Discovering it is not the same as mastering it. Knowing that you can is not the same as consistently doing.

Ultimately, this is the core difference. Embodiment represents the long-haul journey, while an awakening is merely the glimpse, that initial “ah-ha” moment where you realize what’s possible. After that glimpse, it’s common to fall back into old patterns, forgetting how you even accessed that state in the first place. This creates a series of loops, which is a normal and perfectly okay part of the process.

The Driving Analogy: A Powerful Metaphor

Think of it like this. Discovering you can get in the driver’s seat of a car, push the gas pedal, and go really fast is not the same as having the skill to drive safely and arrive at your destination. You can easily know how to push the gas pedal and end up crashing and burning.

In those first few seconds, you might feel a rush of excitement. You might think, “Woo-hoo, look at me. Everything’s moving. I’m going fast.” But excitement alone doesn’t prevent a crash. We have to learn. We have to learn how to drive the vehicle of our own body and consciousness.

Often, there isn’t an instruction manual. Sometimes we have a helpful guide, and other times we are figuring it out entirely on our own. But no matter what path you’re on, even with a guide, you’re going to make mistakes. You’re going to roll over the curb a few times or scrape up against something until you truly learn the feeling of what it’s like to drive your vehicle.

The Hard Truth About Kundalini Awakenings

A significant issue today, particularly with the amount of spiritual “fluff” out there, is the overemphasis on achieving a complete bliss state. This focus often comes at the expense of developing true emotional mastery. Instead of learning to feel and process all our emotions, the goal becomes chasing that bliss state, which ultimately leads to avoidance.

This mindset takes people to a place where they might experience a powerful kundalini awakening but with zero capacity for what that looks like embodied over the next year. It’s a topic many Kundalini facilitators are not ready to address. They might see a client for a single session, send them on their way, and never see them again. Consequently, they don’t witness the absolute hell that can unfold afterward.

And it can be hell. I’ve been through it myself and watched many others go through it too. Having a guide or a framework for understanding your own energetic systems is crucial for navigating this difficult terrain.
