Do you experience lower back pain? It’s a common issue, but have you ever explored the energetic meaning behind their lower back pain, differentiating between the left vs. the right side? If so, you’re in the right place. Your body is telling you two very different stories about where you may feel unsupported in your life.

The Energetic Suspension Bridge of Your Body
Hello, I’m Aela Lee, and I love helping people decode the language of the body. Your lower back acts as the suspension bridge of your entire body. Energetically, it sits right between your root chakra, which governs your survival and safety, and your sacral chakra, which is all about your relationships and creative flow. When this area is in pain, the universal program often running in the background is, “I have to carry it all alone.”
What Your Back Pain Is Really Saying: Left vs. Right Side
However, the side of the body where you feel the pain matters immensely because it reveals the specific nature of this unsupported feeling.
Pain on the Left: The Feminine Side
Pain on the left side of your lower back connects to the feminine aspect, which represents emotional support. Your body is sending a clear message, asking, “I’m nurturing everyone else, but who is holding me?” You might feel emotionally drained by your family relationships or even by your creative projects and creations.
Pain on the Right: The Masculine Side
Conversely, pain on the right side is usually associated with the masculine side. This represents financial and action-oriented support. Your body is communicating a different story here. It might be saying, “I’m carrying this financial burden alone” or “I’m afraid I will lose my footing in my career.” This often manifests as a feeling of not being safe and believing, “I have to do everything myself.”
This ache isn’t just a simple muscle spasm. It is the physical weight of hyper-independence taking its toll.
A Body Key to Reclaim Your Support: The Anchor Exercise
To start a new conversation with your body, here is a powerful body key I call the “Anchor Support.” The purpose of this exercise is to physically remind your body that it has backing and is capable of supporting itself.
- You can begin this exercise by standing up.
- Next, rub your palms together until they feel really, really hot.
- Then, place your warm hands firmly on your lower back, with your fingers pointing down over the glutes.
- Now, lean back into your own hands. Feel that support. That is you catching yourself.
- As you lean back, also push your feet firmly into the floor, feeling the connection to the earth.
- Finally, say this choice out loud or softly in your mind, whichever works best for you. You can also write it down.
I choose to set down the weight that is not mine. I am supported by the earth. I am supported by my own power.
When you truly realize that you are the anchor, your muscles can finally get the signal to let go. The tension can begin to release.
And if you feel you need more support in releasing these old patterns, I invite you to join us. We have an event for cycle breakers this week where we dive deeper into these topics. You can check the schedule and grab your seat to see if it resonates. I’ll see you there.
