Have you ever stopped to consider what your joint pain is telling you? If you experience arthritis or joint pain that seems consistently worse on one side of your body, it might not be a coincidence. Has anyone explored the idea that joint pain being worse on one side of the body is a direct message about our emotional state? The left and right sides of your body are telling two very different stories about what you are resisting in your life.

Decoding the Polarity of Your Pain
Let’s decode the polarity of your body’s messages. Whether your condition is osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis, the specific location of the pain provides a clear message about your internal resistance. Understanding this distinction is the first step toward finding relief.
The Right Side: Masculine Energy and The Future
If the stiffness or pain is predominantly on the right side of your body, it is connected to your masculine currents. This energy represents the acts of giving, taking action, and moving toward the future. When this side hurts, it signifies a blockage in that forward momentum.
Your body is essentially saying, “I’m afraid to take the next step. I feel burdened by responsibilities I don’t want, or I’m resisting moving forward in my career.”
This pain acts as a literal brake pedal on your future actions, holding you back from where you need to go.
The Left Side: Feminine Energy and The Past
Conversely, if your pain is on the left side, it relates to your feminine currents. This energy represents the art of receiving, connection to the past, and the natural emotional flow within you.
In this case, your body is communicating, “I’m holding onto an emotional hurt from the past. I don’t trust others to support me, or I refuse to forgive.”
This discomfort signifies a hardening of the heart, making it difficult to receive love, help, and support from others.
A Simple Exercise to Understand What Your Joint Pain Is Telling You
To reestablish communication and restore balance, here is a body key I like to call the “Willow Movement.” This practice is designed to reintegrate flow and release resistance. Follow these simple steps to begin.
- Find Your Space: Stand up or sit tall in a comfortable position.
- Set the Mood: I recommend playing some soft music in the background. If you’d like, you can find some of my frequency music on popular streaming platforms to use for this exercise.
- Begin to Move: Gently move your body like a willow tree in the wind… fluid, yielding, and unbroken.
If You Hurt on the Right Side
As you move, visualize yourself moving forward with clear intention, pushing through the air with grace. Repeat this affirmation to yourself:
“I choose to move forward with ease.”
If You Hurt on the Left Side
While moving gently, open your palms to the sky in a gesture of receptivity. Say this affirmation to yourself:
“I am open to receive. I choose to set down the past and create now.”
To complete the practice, connect with your entire body and affirm, “I yield, I trust, and I flow.” Remember that to balance the body, you must balance both sides.
From Past Trauma to Physical Manifestation
Ultimately, this localized pain often comes down to past traumas. These traumas first become noticeable through subtle self-sabotage patterns and, if left unaddressed, can manifest deep within us as physical conditions. If you’d like to learn more about the seven cycles of self-sabotage and join other cycle breakers, we have an event this week. If you’d like to grab your seat, you can find more information at this link. I’ll see you there.
