The Energetic Root of Lower Back Pain
Chronic lower back pain usually has nothing to do with the spine or muscles. More often than not, it has everything to do with the emotional weight of an experience. Your root and sacral chakras, which are your first and second energy centers, govern the centers of “me and you” or “me and situation” duality.
Your lower back is the physical container for this energy. It is the structure designed to support you as you flow with other people, situations, and experiences in your life.
When Emotional Weight Becomes Physical Pain
But what happens when you feel you have to be the only support? What happens when you feel you have to carry the emotional weight of a situation all by yourself? Your physical lower back literally takes on that burden. It becomes the support you are not receiving from the outside world.
That ache, that constant dull strain, that is the physical sensation of “I am holding all of this together all alone.”
This is energetic exhaustion that has finally manifested into real, physical pain.
A Simple Body Key to Reintroduce Support
To begin shifting this pattern, you must give that part of you the physical and energetic support it’s craving. Let’s use a simple “body key” exercise to send a new signal of support to your system.
- If you can, stand up and place your hands on your hips, almost like the Superman position, but wrap your fingers around your lower back with your thumbs pointing forward.
- Gently squeeze this area. Give yourself a firm and loving pressure. As you do this, send the intention of love. This is support in the form of physical acknowledgment.
- While holding yourself, begin to gently rock your hips a little bit from side to side, and also back and forward.
You’re physically holding yourself while reintroducing a gentle flow. You’re sending a new signal. I’m supported. My foundation is me. It is safe to be in the flow.
Asking Deeper Questions to Uncover The Secret Message of Your Back Pain
As you perform this gentle exercise, start to ask yourself some introspective questions. This practice can reveal a whole side of the pain that you might not have been aware of before.
- Where in my reality do I feel alone and not supported?
- How can I allow more support in these areas?
- What is one small action that I can allow for myself to feel supported by others?
From Pain to Communication
Starting to ask introspective questions like this allows communication to be present with your body. Instead of masking the pain with medication to just push forward, you open a dialogue. Through this communication, you can begin to see new ways of allowance to implement into your life so that the pain does not have to manifest itself so strongly.
