Recognizing the Signs of Constriction
You simply cannot create from a place of constriction. When your energy and your mind are constricted, the flow of creativity, new ideas, and opportunities is effectively blocked. A really good indicator of this is found by tuning into your physical and energetic body. Take a moment to check in with yourself.
- Tune into your heart chakra. Does it feel open or closed?
- Notice the position of your shoulders. Are you constricting forward, hunching over your work?
- Or are you expanding backward, with an open posture?
When you are physically and energetically expanding outwards, you allow a powerful flow to come in. This isn’t just a flow of receiving in your business and personal life, but it’s also a vital flow of creativity.
You can’t create if your energy and your mind is constricted.
The Double-Edged Sword of Strategy and Data
Many of us have been taught to rely heavily on strategies and data. Now, let me be clear, I am not saying that strategy and data are bad. In fact, I use them immensely in my own business. However, for so many conscious entrepreneurs, we can focus on the strategy and the data way too much.
When you try to create using only these logical tools, you risk constricting the natural flow of your creative life force into your business and your projects. This over-reliance on structure can stifle the very innovation and inspiration you need to truly thrive and make an impact.
How to Unlock Your Structured Flow State
So, what is the solution? The key is to lean back and ask yourself, “Where can I expand? Where can I step out of constriction and into flow?” To help me stay in flow, but also stay on track, I like to cultivate something I call a structured flow state.
In truth, all flow happens within a structure. The banks of a river provide the structure for the water to flow. But that same structure can become a dam, stagnating and constricting the flow if it’s too rigid. On the other hand, if you are completely in flow with no structure, you eventually turn into a puddle and don’t actually get anywhere. The goal is a perfect balance.
We want to create a structure that amplifies your flow state. This empowers the flow to bring you into alignment with the deeper structure of who and what you are, what your mission is, and what your purpose is. It connects you to your business’s existence and the deep reason why you are serving your clients.
