So many conscious creators and entrepreneurs struggle to find a consistent flow state, and it has nothing to do with their morning routine. Have we been thinking about ‘flow state’ completely backwards? It might not be something we need to achieve at all. The truth is you’ve been taught to view flow state from an entirely backwards perspective, thinking of it as a peak state that you must work hard to get into. But what if the opposite were true?

Discovering the Truth About Your Flow State
We are often told that flow is a peak state, something we have to achieve or force ourselves into through discipline and hustle. This common belief sets us up for a constant chase, a feeling that we are lacking something essential. But what if I told you that flow state is actually your natural state of being? It’s your default setting, not an upgrade you need to install. It is not something you need to add to yourself, but rather something you simply need to embrace and return to.
Flow state is your natural state of being. It’s your default setting. It’s not something you need to add. It’s something you simply need to embrace.
The Real Reason You Get Blocked
If flow is our natural state, what stops us from experiencing it all the time? The only thing that ever blocks you from your natural state of flow is internal resistance. Think of your creative life force like water in a garden hose that is always flowing. The resistance you feel comes from “kinks” in that hose. These kinks are formed from outdated programming and points in your timeline where you had to adapt to external pressures. These adaptations resulted in the creation of internal structures in your consciousness.
These parts of your consciousness might be afraid of success, visibility, or even failure. They create an internal conflict that constantly leaks your energy and effectively stops your creative flow. You are left feeling drained, stuck, and frustrated, wondering why you can’t just ‘get into’ the zone.
How to Gently Un-kink the Hose
You don’t find flow by turning up the water pressure with more hustle, more effort, or more discipline. That approach often just creates more tension and reinforces the blockages. Instead, you find your flow by gently and lovingly un-kinking the hose. The real work isn’t about chasing a feeling or a state of mind. The work is about identifying and integrating the deep-seated structures in your consciousness that are creating the resistance in the first place.
When you commit to this inner work of releasing resistance, something profound happens. Flow ceases to be a place you visit on rare occasions. It becomes the place you live from. It is what you are.
